Abolition Is Now

Abolition is Now

‘Abolition is Now’ is an art and poetry exhibition and part of the ‘The World Reimagined’ national art education project which aims to transform our understanding of the Transatlantic Trade in Enslaved Africans and its legacy/ impact on all of us.

Things start on August 13th at 1pm, with Bristol Radical History Group member Mark Steeds, author of Cry Freedom, Cry Seven Stars and co author of From Wulfstan to Colston, giving a talk animated by archive abolitionist poetry readings to tell the international story of the movement towards abolition during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Following the talk poet Saili Katebe will lead a poetry workshop inspired by the talk 'Abolition Then' and contemporary notions of abolition.
